stupid color squad / color squad records

something is happening in soundcloud. and is pretty cool

one of those WTF internet moments that make you surf account after account for hours trying to find the reason or see the whole picture.

last time i had the same WTF moment online was in 2015 during the SMITH FAMILY facebook takeover ( link1 , link2, link3, link4, link5, link6 )

Smith Family thing was some kind of protest / ephemeral internet performance where hundreds of people started making profiles as stuff with Smith surnames. it was literally mental, i remember after i added some of this profiles, i woke up to 200 friendship requests, all of them of the smith family.
mostly everyone was posting status against facebook new rule that if you have a «strange name» u need to prove your identity with a passport. Smiths was the protest against that. everytime FB deleted 1 smith account , 3 more smith accounts would appear posting «rest in peace Corn Smith, we will never forget you» and stuff like that.
it didn’t last longer, and in the same way it arrived it left. no one talked again about the smiths. it was pretty cool tho. lol

In Soundcloud is happening something similar: a community of users who use colors in their profiles and are part of an internet SQUAD. they comment each other in their songs, and after all those comments the songs look asthetically cooler. (see examples)

most of them are IDM,noise, experimental sounds, aphex twin like melodies and broken beats in general,  the whole aesthetic of random user names and just a plain color, reminds me aphex twin alternative soundcloud account

the 2 main accounts and their hundreds of songs/artists are called Stupid Color Squad and Color Squad Records  both claim that are not afiliated with eachother, but at the same time they link to each other, so we will take for granted that is the same people.

this text can be found in in Stupid Color Squad soundcloud´s  description:

Share your music, use a full color pic and leave stupid good comments. Now you are a member of the stupid color squad

since when does this exist? if we make a twitter search we can find a tweet from june 2016 that links us to a song about stupid color squad.

who is behind this?

apparently there are 2 main names, one is Tunnel One and the other one is Eazykill
Tunnel One has a normal SC account with 59 songs. but Eazykill…. Eazykill IS MENTAL

18300 songs uploaded? is this a bot? is this a super musician? is this someone uploading every moment in their life? if we scroll down we will find out that this person uploads lot of tracks a day, some of them sound like computer generated noise or modified from other songs, some others sound like recordings of a work in progress/live jam. also the name of the tracks are kind of random, computer generated names or Audio1, Audio2, Audio3 like names.

EAZYKILL, (real name Ezekiel b weiner)  what’s going on with you? i have lot of questions, are you just trying to consume as much space of your soundcloud pro account? do you keep track of all your recordings? how many hard drives do you need? how many copyright takedown notices did u get since you started uploading tracks? what do you do with your life, appart of uploading tracks? are you even a human?

please let me know

  1. 18300 songs uploaded? and more

    is this a bot?
    are you?

    is this a super musician?
    as if, you wish..
is this someone uploading every moment in their life?

if only i were so lucky–tho it is a horrifying thought.

EAZYKILL, (real name Ezekiel b weiner) what’s going on with you?

jammin’ w/ je1ku for the most part.

i have lot of questions, are you just trying to consume as much space of your soundcloud pro account? that was basically the initial intention, yeah. «Unlimited» = ∞. DUH!

do you keep track of all your recordings? sigh, … no.
how many hard drives do you need? 0

how many copyright takedown notices did u get since you started uploading tracks? LOL, so many. I actually contested David Bryne out of one of my songs (Vyrmis2) when he tried 2 steal the copyright.

what do you do with your life, appart of uploading tracks? meditation, yoga, listening to the music of others and, 000_ooo_000_ooo_000-ing, taking my meds.

    are you even a human?
[i refuse to answer that ?]
